Frequently asked questions.
cPanel
What is cPanel?
cPanel is a web hosting control panel that provides a user-friendly interface to manage and control various aspects of your website, including email accounts, file management, databases, domain management, and security.
Can I access cPanel from anywhere?
Yes, you can access cPanel from anywhere with an internet connection by entering your domain name followed by /cpanel in your web browser. You can also access cPanel via our Client Area.
Can I install software on my website using cPanel?
Yes, cPanel provides a built-in tool called Softaculous that lets you install WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and many more with just a few clicks.
How can I secure my website using cPanel?
cPanel provides several security features such as SSL/TLS certificates, IP blockers, and password-protected directories to help you secure your website.
POP / IMAP email
What is POP/IMAP?
POP and IMAP are two email protocols for accessing your emails from a remote server. POP downloads emails to your local device; IMAP syncs and keeps them on the server, across devices.
How do I set up POP/IMAP email on my device?
You will need the email server settings provided by us: the incoming mail server (POP or IMAP), the outgoing mail server (SMTP), and your account username and password.
How many emails can I send per hour?
Send limits are tied to your hosting plan, from 50 emails per hour on Starter up to 200 or more on higher tiers. For bulk sends, use a dedicated service like MyMail.
What happens when I exceed the Send Rate Limit?
Emails over the limit are deferred to the next hour. This limit protects your account from being used for spam if it's ever compromised.
Data centre
How do you physically secure the data centre?
We use technology-driven perimeter, building and access-control security, backed by high-voltage barriers and the latest video surveillance.
Are there security personnel on-site?
Yes, security personnel are on site 24/7 to ensure the safety of visitors and equipment.
How do visitors gain access?
Through biometric access control systems, with progressive access policies limiting authorised visitors to only the areas they need.
Backups (Jetbackup)
What is Jetbackup?
Jetbackup is backup management software we use to create, manage and restore backups of your data, keeping it secure and easily recoverable.
How often are backups made?
Backups run every evening and are stored both locally on the server and remotely on our backup server in Cape Town.
How does Jetbackup secure customer data?
It uses AES-256 encryption for data in transit and at rest, with backups also stored on a separate server for an added layer of security.
